The falling rate in Lashkar e Taiba ranks got a boost, when a Jammu and Kashmir policeman, who was on leave, joined the terror outfit on Saturday.
Selection grade constable Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, on training in Kathua district of Jammu region had taken leave to come to the Kashmir Valley's Shopian district earlier this week. Dar was shifted from Kargil to Kathua in July after adverse reports about his alleged
“He was under police radar but we can’t arrest a person unless he does something,” a senior
police officer said.
"After coming home, the constable left his home to report back to duty last week but went missing and a report was lodged
by his family.
"It is now learnt that he has joined the LeT outfit," the police said, adding the matter was still being investigated.
Pictures of the missing constable wielding an AK-47 rifle had appeared on social media, confirming the news of desertion. This year alone at least six
policeman have deserted the ranks to join the militants organization. Many policemen have been killed by militants.
